Rest in Peace, Sweet Frederick

Frederick was found last fall wandering in circles in a South Minneapolis yard. This gentle soul was blind and emaciated when brought into rescue.

Frederick's foster caregiver provided amazing care for him as he fought an uphill battle with his glaucoma, blindness, arthritis, IBS, pancreatitis, hypertension and failing kidneys. He passed away peacefully today and will truly be missed.

Little Lolly

Lolly spent longer than normal at the vet when initially rescued but finally moved to a foster home last week.

From Lolly's foster caregiver:
Oh, the fun of trying to capture black kitties on film! Doing video on a black chair was a long shot, but she was being mellow and sweet, so I had to try. Both of these show she doesn't have an infected eye anymore, though! Lolly is playful, purry and very happy. She says "thanks for taking me to the doctor and getting me well!"

Even better she will be joined in her foster home soon by two of her siblings. All 3 kittens should be then be ready to find their forever homes soon.

Running out of room

Rubi's kittens are growing up fast! Here they are a couple of weeks ago.

And here they are today!

Carlton, Jazz, Spike, Philip and Jennifer are now ready to find their forever homes... before they outgrow their foster home altogether!

Rubi, a pregnant stray, was rescued this spring through Feline Rescue's Outreach Program. If you are interested in meeting Rubi's kids, please call Molly at 651-295-3758.

Roomies

Titan, Ahlers, and Doug are roommates in a special room at the Feline Rescue Adoption Center, where they are fed only grainless canned food because of allergies.

But don't let the word "special" fool you: these guys are not extra work. Grainless canned food is a great diet for keeping ANY cat healthy and happy. And these sure are big, healthy, happy boys!

It's hard to say which one is the nicest... they're all so sweet, outgoing, and fun to have around! So if you stop by the adoption center looking for a cat or two, be sure that you don't pass by these special guys.

For more information on these guys, stop by the adoption center or call 651-642-5900, ext.3.

Home at Last

Two of Cleopatra's eight babies River and Kaylee (formerly Nonnie and Trudy), found their home July 9 and are currently "Rulers of their Domain" according to their new family.

River and Kaylee

 Kaylee

River and Kaylee exemplify Feline Rescue's commitment to never giving up on finding homes for their cats even if it takes a year or more. These beautiful girls were born in a foster home June of 2010, grew up in their foster home, and then cared for at Feline Rescue's shelter until they found their forever home.

Amy Jo Has an Extra Heart

Amy Jo is one of Clara Beth's 7 kittens.  She's always had unique markings on her sides and her foster mom's niece, Emma, decided that one of the markings looks like a heart.  Emma took a photo to prove her point and I think she's right.  Amy Jo has a little heart in her tabby bulls-eye.

This sweet, fun, beautiful little girl is waiting to find her forever home.  If you are interested in meeting Amy Jo, please call Joan at 651-705-6264.

Happy Taffy

We received two great updates and lots of photos to share of Taffy fka Fifi in her forever home.

Taffy (formerly FiFi) had a great first night at her Forever Home. She loved the attention and the exploring. She slept with us most of the night. I forgot how much a kitten can leap! We have moved all the breakables.

Dave

Dave and I were very excited to bring home our newest family member Taffy (formerly known as Fifi) this evening. She is already settling in nicely and loving the attention. Thanks again to everyone at Feline Rescue.

Fran

Thanks for sharing Dave and Fran!

Shoelaces and Kittens

Kittens are easy and cheap to entertain. You just need to toss a pen, crumpled paper, bottle cap, or twist tie on the floor and you've got a soccer game. Or as some of Twiggy's kittens demonstrate, walk around with dangling shoelaces.

Who's in charge here?

Fonzie! Feline Rescue's favorite peach-colored pussycat is still enjoying his summer vacation at Woody's Pet Food Deli in Highland. The Fonz would LOVE to find a home of his own... or maybe to live with a dog like Daisy, who lets him call the shots.

Although Fonzie is very entertaining, he isn't just fun and games. He's a sweet lap cat too! You can meet Fonzie at Woody's or call 651-642-5900. ext.3.

Pretty Little Girls Find a Home

You may remember sisters Dorothy, Peggy and Sonja from a post shortly after arriving into rescue, Good Morning Kittens. In just a little over a couple months they've gone from being bottle fed to their forever homes this past weekend. Following is an update their foster mom received from Dorothy's and Peggy's family.

Emilie/Dorothy and Cossette/Peggy had a nice day exploring their new home and toys. They found some big blue balls they both liked to carry in their mouths (wish I had a photo of that) and playing in the crinkle tube. We are keeping them in our family room to start. They also liked a fuzzy fish pole sort of toy. Cossette/Peggy was dragging it around on the floor. They seem very happy and content.

We are so glad to have these cute, loving, well-adjusted kittens. Thanks so much for taking such good care of them. I will keep you posted.

Thanks again!

Azazel's First Day Home

Here is Azazel (formerly known as My Shadow) on his first day at our apartment!

He's very vocal and not scared of us people, just the new surroundings. I was rubbing him with our other cat's blanket so she could have the scent and he was purring like a kitten.

Catherine
Thank you Catherine! We love adoption updates, keep them coming everyone.

Tommy Relaxin' At Home

A great Tommy update with photos from his family.

Tommy is settling in well at his new home.  He loves to lay in the window sill and watch the world go by (when he's not sleeping).  He often lays on his back and looks at us upside down.  He also likes to charge through the house once in a while but most of the time he is relaxing in the window.

Tommy seems to love the hardwood floors but especially likes to lay on the tiles in front of the fireplace. Tommy is a great addition to our home.

We're really having fun with Tommy!

Cleopatra Update

Cleopatra recently found her forever home. Her new family reports that she adjusted quickly, loves attention, and is getting along well with the other family cat!

Here is our cute Miss Cleo! We adore her, and she and Zeus are becoming good friends. Thank you so much for helping us to find such a sweet little girl! I'll send you an update picture soon.

Sweet Trudy and Nonnie,
two of Cleopatra's eight kittens, are still looking for their forever home. You can come visit them at the Feline Rescue Adoption Center.

Sprite and Tik Tak Update

Sprite and Tik Tak found their home recently.  Being black kitties it took them a little longer to find their family even though they are laid back, cuddly, very fun boys.

Tik Tak and Sprite are adapting well. We are so glad to have them. They love the sink and often drink out of it together. Mikayla doesn't mind turning it on for them either.

They like their toys and we are so thankful for the blankets they have helped us adapt the cats into their new home. Tik Tak has warmed up to Mikayla more then the rest of us and Sprite just loves anyone who plays with him. We are so glad we didn't separate them, they are such a great pair. They wrestle and chase and clean and play together so well.

Many thanks,
The Kendalls
