Family created in foster care is together forever

If you don't remember Lucy, Linus and Charlie Brown (or even if you do), check back at their earlier blog posts for some supercute baby pics. They are an extra special family that started with a tiny newborn kitten found at Red Lake Indian reservation during a clinic where he was matched with a mom cat who had been nursing, but her kittens were gone. Then two weeks later, Feline Rescue took is a kitten just 2-3 weeks old and Lucy took him on too. A wonderful family adopted the whole family and we just received a happy update on them. As you can see the kitties are still VERY close ;-)
The kitties are just wonderful! We love them so!

Lucy is her usual sweet self. She does seem to be a tad more playful and kittenish in spurts as the boys are growing up. And she's just so well behaved! Never scratching anything but the scratching posts, waiting patiently to be petted, etc.
She seems to have a particular affinity for Sam, our 8 year old. She seeks him out when he's reading or playing, then just rolls on her back and stretches out so he can rub her tummy. He loves it!
Charlie is now bigger (taller and longer, not bigger around) than Lucy and certainly than Linus. He still has a kittenish feel to his body, though, so it makes me wonder how big he's going to be when he's all done growing. He's such a happy-go-lucky, enthusiastic spaz of a kitty! His nails seem to grow the fastest and he has the biggest affinity for clawing stuff he's not supposed to. We're working on it! Oh - Charlie also has turned out to be the best mouser. He has killed two mice in our house and I'm happy to report that I think he's solved the mouse issue! (He was SOOOO proud of himself!)
Linus still seems to be the most thoughtful. And I think he's really smart. He such a calmly loving guy -- he waits 'til the hubbub dies down, then comes and sits in my lap or lays on my legs if I'm sleeping. He spends quite a bit of time curled up with either Charlie or Lucy and grooming them. Here are some pictures of our crew. By the way, Lucy is indeed getting a little friskier as the boys get a bit older. Fun to watch her play with toys!
Oh -- and Lucy really did that purple boa all by herself (after Charlie found it in the kids' dress up clothes and dragged it up from the basement). Definite photo op!

Do you like kittens???

We have gotten hit hard with abandoned kittens. We desperately need someone to help foster, or a safe place for them to stay temporarily until we can find foster homes.

We have 2 shy kittens about 5-6 months old.

We have a young kitten coming in that was abandoned by a business ,that is very thin, and I was told weighs about 2-3 pounds

We have 2 litters with Mommas. The Moms are shy and need socialization.

We got 2 kittens in yesterday about 4 weeks old.--Jessica will foster them. She is picking them up from the clinic tonight.

We have had many more calls that I have had to refuse!!!!

Surely someone has an extra room or a second bathroom.
Please help!!!!!!!!!!!

Please call Cathy at 651 230-3263. Please pass this information on to your friends and coworkers.

Thanks much!!!

NOTE: Kittens in photos were rescued last summer.

2009 Tree Family

You may remember the Tree Family from 2008.  And if you look closely at the following photo you can see our newest foster kittens, members of the 2009 Tree Family, inside the trunk of a tree.

This year three 4-5 week old babies were found in a tree and bottle fed until momma cat was caught a few days later and reunited with her babies.

Hopefully rescuing kittens from inside trees doesn't become a spring ritual.   Luckily everyone is again safe and sound in foster care.
If you'd like to read more about the rescue, our newest foster volunteer recounted the experience of rescuing this family on her blog, ShinyCake - The Drama of Rescuing Kitties.

Brad & Angie are living under assumed names

Kittens Brad & Angelina have been adopted into a forever home and in order to avoid the paparazzi, they have changed their names to Harry & Greta. Their new family treats them like the stars they are, but they have promised not to reveal their true identity or secret location:Harry and Greta are doing great!!! We love them so much - they fill the house with their crazy antics. They are both so loving, but Harry is so laid back and affectionate, quite the sweetheart. Greta is sweet and loves to be held and cuddled, but is definitely the cautious one. But she warms up to everyone and doesn't stay hidden when we have company. The grandkids love them!I've attached a couple pictures - they have really made themselves at home. Thanks again for the little sweeties!

Sincerely
D.

BTW, Brad & Angie's mom was very pregnant when Feline Rescue got her so her final litter of lovely kittens will be available for adoption in about 10 weeks. Watch for blog posts about Queenie and the Bees! Also, Brad & Angie's older brother Bigby is available for adoption, too, and he's a gentle, loving soul.

Too many kittens, not enough foster homes

If you've ever considered fostering, now's the time. Feline Rescue has been receiving many requests to take in orphaned and abandoned kittens and today a Siamese mix momma cat and two four week old kittens were left at our shelter. We hate to turn kittens away but our foster homes are currently maxed out. If you have a spare room and an interest in fostering, please contact Cathy, Feline Rescue foster coordinator, at 651-230-3263.
