BayLee & Nickie's Big Interview

In anticipation of the upcoming winter olympics, Kittie Couric interviews two athletic sisters, Baylee & Nickie:

KC: Hello, Girls! You’re attracting lots of attention from sports-lovers because you’re training for the Olympics and competing in so many sports!! How did all this come about?

B&N: Well, we grew up in a big family and we were all very active from the time we were born (last summer). Our Mom encouraged us, and our Foster Mom gives us a lot of space to practice.

KC: What are some of your favorite sports?

B&N: We both love soccer (especially if the ball is Red and Fuzzy). Of course, gymnastics is probably our best event. We’re great on the balance beam (we work out on window sills, and can both reverse direction without falling off). And we’re into vaulting and floor exercise -- we do both of those in tandem!

KC: Tandem?! ! You mean like the synchronized diving and swimming events?

B&N: Like them, yes -- although swimming is out of the question since we both hate getting wet… And unlike the swimmers, we don’t look alike at all. (Baylee: I’m a calico. Nickie: I’m a gray/black tabby). But our Coach (Foster Mom) says it’s teamwork that counts.

KC: What are your biggest challenges when it comes to competing?

B&N: Well, our bio-rhythms are off sometimes -- one of us will be napping with Coach when the other is full of energy and wants to practice. But our Biggest handicap is that we’re Shy, and we get intimidated in front of an audience. Actually, sometimes we run and hide from just one or two people. But, hey! Sometimes all a girl needs is a little encouragement!! Everything’s fine at Home!! We’ve set some new World Records there!!

KC: What’s next for you two?

B&N: We’re working on a tandem aerial act – a whole new event for the Olympics!! We got the idea one day when Nickie fell out of the Cat Tree….

KC: So that’s the story of these two intrepid sisters! By the way, they’re looking for a Very Special Person who would take over their training program.
