BFFs - Daisy and Emily

Daisy and Emily are two young cats who are looking for a home together.  They started off in separate foster homes but after Daisy's sisters and mom were adopted and Emily's siblings were adopted we thought that they would enjoy each others company.  They are now the best of friends.  Daisy is the outgoing one of the pair while Emily takes a while to warm up to new people.

Daisy says, "We’re having a good time here at our Foster house, but one day a SPECIAL PURRSON will come & find Emily & me, and then we’ll go to our OWN house. I think that’ll be more Fun than Anything!! Are You The One??"

Update on two of Olive's bean babies

You may remember Olive and her bean babies from last summer. By February, all six kitties had found their forever homes. The nice gentleman who adopted the last two kitties recently sent the foster caregivers this note:

These two sisters really are bonded. They're constantly licking each other, wrestling each other, eating with each other, exploring etc etc...
Because the weather has been so warm all the windows are open in my house, letting them get a whiff of the outdoor paradise called "summer in Eagan"! They love to watch the birds and nap in the sunlight.

We're glad to see that two cute kittens turned into gorgeous cats under the loving care of their forever person.

Flower/Leona update

Leona, fka Flower, came to Feline Rescue in February. She had been abused and suffered from a broken leg, pelvis and ribs, as well as a broken tooth. We're happy to report that after 2 months in foster care she has made a full recovery and is doing great! Not only is she healthy, but she is just as sweet as can be. Her fosters Irene and Howard have taken wonderful care of her.

Here she is stretching after a nap.

And talking to me while I took photos. She wanted attention!
A special thanks goes out to Leona's guardian angel, Susan, for her generous donation! It's because of our wonderful supporters that we can help abused cats like Leona.

Biggest Loser?

Lola lost 4 pounds over several months, simply by switching from free feeding dry food to getting two meals of quality canned food every day. If your cat is overweight, consider feeding a canned food diet.

While a fat cat may look cute, obesity is a serious health concern for cats. Since losing all the extra weight, Lola looks good and feels great! Running and playing (and even cat-napping) are much more fun now!

If you’re interested in adopting the newly fit Lola, stop by the Feline Rescue Adoption Center or call 651-642-5900, ext.3.

Become Howard the Cat's Facebook Friend

Howard's mom, Robin, adopted Howard (formerly Grey Schma) and his best buddy in the world, Baloo (formerly Jack-O), from Feline Rescue about a year ago. And she hasn't had a dull moment ever since!

Howard’s Facebook profile picture

We posted previously about Howard and Baloo's blog, see Big, Fat Cat Update, and now Howard has his very own Facebook page.  The posts are from Howard's own words and thoughts about life, his observations, and dealing with (or, in a lot of cases, tattling on) his brother Baloo. It's so much fun to read about Baloo's antics, from Howard's perspective. Howard is certainly a very patient and tolerant best buddy. Become Howard's friend today. He needs all the sympathetic ears he can gather! Just send a friend request to Howard Holland.

He's sitting on me! Actually sitting on me. I was here first!
Okay, so I'm not using the perch for the proper purpose but he's sitting on me!

Kaiser

Kaiser's family adopted him a little over 3 years ago and recently sent the following update and photos.

He is an amazing soul who has brought much happiness to our family. I can't tell you how lucky we (me, Nicole, and Kaiser's feline brother Oscar) are that he came into our lives.

Thank you for all the work you do on behalf of cats.

With deepest respect,
Dax

Kaiser's family also wrote that he loves paper bags and to lay entirely upside down.

What a handsome guy!

Grunty and Poe

We received another fun update, complete with photo and video, about former Feline Rescue kitty Grunty (fka McCoyd) and his good friend Poe.

Hello!

Last year my husband, Brian, and I adopted two adorable young cats. We adopted Edgar Allen Poe from the Chuck & Don's store in Shakopee around May last year. The adoption is run by Last Hope Inc, so I just wanted to thank you both for taking care of him and helping us find him :) We call him "Poe" for short now, and he's a darling. He pretends to be a very independent cat, but he's really quite the lover, he's been quite the lap cat lately and loves to play with his buddy Grunty.

We adopted "Grunty", previously named McCoyd, from Feline Rescue in St. Paul in September last year. He was pretty overweight, and while he is still a fairly round cat, we're glad to say that he's very energetic and happy. He and Poe play around our apartment all the time. Although he still "burrs" and "grunts" constantly, and he still loves to beg for food. Any time I'm in the kitchen I just know that he's there underfoot, rolling around doing his best to look cute in case someone wants to drop him a treat. When he wants attention he really lets you know it, he'll jump up to wherever you are and give you a good nudge until you pay him some attention :)

I have posted a cute video of them playing on Saturday:

And attached a recent picture of them sleeping soundly all snuggled up together :)

Thank you :)
Megan & Brian

Can't say too many times how much Feline Rescue volunteers love updates. Thank you!!

Lily's Babies

A glimpse of Lily's babies.

Momma cat, Lily, is keeping her babies safe in the carrier that she was transported in to her current foster home.  And understandably so after being trapped last Saturday, giving birth in one foster home Sunday (Easter hence the name Lily) and moved to another foster home Monday.

Lily is a sweet, friendly mom who is taking wonderful care of her babies.  Keep an eye out for this family in a few months when they will be available for adoption.

We are receiving a lot of requests to take in stray pregnant cats.  If you are interested in fostering, contact Cathy at 651-230-3263.

Please spay and neuter your pets to prevent unwanted litters.

The Tony Martin

The latest from Tony Martin's family.

He is a part of our "pack".  He's adjusted very well to the dogs and wants to be with the group most of the time.

and when asked if we could post his update on the blog...

I'm sure Tony would love to be in the Blog.  He is a bit of a ham.

You'd never tell from his photo :)

Mellow Muncie

Muncie may not be the first cat you notice when visiting the Feline Rescue Adoption Center. A big, laid-back, black cat, Muncie sometimes seems to fade into the woodwork. But look again… spend some time with this unassuming fellow, and you’ll see how special Muncie really is!

Muncie loves petting and sitting in laps. He even likes to be carried around once in a while. Muncie gets along great with other cats: all the cats in the front room love him. He’s just a down-to-earth, friendly kind of guy!

At snack-time, Muncie politely asks for canned food with his big, deep voice. Muncie loves canned food! And once he’s done snacking, you can usually interest him in a lively game with a string or a mouse.

So if you’re looking for a nice, calm, all-around great cat, Muncie would be perfect for you. Once you get this loveable guy home, you’ll be glad that you gave Mellow Mr. Muncie a second look.

To meet Muncie, stop by the Feline Rescue Adoption Center or call 651-642-5900, ext.3.

Update on Juliet and kids

Sometimes it's hard to place the mother cat after her kittens have found their homes, but Juliet went to a home along with two of her kittens! Remember the chubby sausage kittens?

JACK, LILY, MAMAUPDATE:
My mother recently adopted Bonnie from Feline Rescue. What a sweet personality Bonnie has! I can already see that Bonnie and my mom are a great match and are going to be very happy together.

Mom said I should send along an update and recent photo of Mama, Jack
and Lily (formerly Juliet, Jake and Judy adopted Feline Rescue foster care).
Mama is a great mother to her kids and is now three years old. Jack and Lily are now two. As you can see from the photo, they are healthy and getting along quite well. All three of them enjoy playing chase and hide n' seek.

JACK & LILYDuring one game of chase last fall, Jack was chasing Lily through the house, both were at full speed when Lily jumped into an open window knocking out the screen and landing in a soft bed of mulch ten feet below. It's always something with these kids but we love them.

All three are great cats. They make us laugh every day and we enjoy spoiling them.
