Melodi Mars and Noelle Home Together

Melodi Mars and Noelle came into foster care as orphaned kittens who had been found outside alone. Noelle was rescued at just 7 weeks in December and Melodi Mars was found in a box by a garbage can at a local park the beginning of March. Now they are both enjoying the good life with their new family. Following is their most recent update and photos.

Izzy fka Melodi Mars and Noelle

Here is an update regarding the kittens. They are adjusting to living with each other and us nicely. They play chase around the house, wrestle and nip at each other as well as sleep, eat, watch out the windows and groom each other. We have renamed Melodi and now call her Izzy, short for Isabelle. I affectionately refer to her as busy Izzy as she find something to do all the time. Both are responding to their names and will come when called and most of the time their tails are straight up in the air. We are amazed at how well Noelle is doing. She no longer cries at the window or hides (unless she is taking a break from her sister). Her favorite sleeping spots are either with Joe or Amanda on their beds and both say she purrs as she closes her eyes and goes to sleep. Izzy likes to sleep curled up next to me in our bed. If I am unsure of where she is , I "scratch" the side of my mattress and she comes running and jumps on me! They had their first vet visit last week and their nails trimmed. Riding in the car is a little scary still for them but they did a great job.

Warmest Wishes,
Melissa

Thank you to their new family for giving them a home!

BabyCakes Now Named Bella

BabyCakes has grown quite a bit in her forever home and has gone from a cute little girl to a beautiful young cat so only appropriate that her family has named her Bella.

Update from her family:
We named her Bella, but still use BabyCakes as her nickname. :) Bella is loving her new home, and getting along famously with her (slightly) bigger brother Oliver. They chase each other from one end of the house to the other, share their favorite toys, and curl up for naps when they've tired each other out. It's pretty adorable.

Audrey, our older Siamese, has even adjusted nicely to Bella being part of the family. Audrey still likes her space, but is amicable toward Bella and has even started playing with her a bit which is fun to see.

Bella has her own basket and blanket in Bryan's office and loves to curl up there when he's working from home. We also purchased a scratching tree with perching baskets that she absolutely loves. Bella's favorite toy right now is a sparkly pom-pom ball. Whenever I'm in my reading chair, she jumps up in my lap with the sparkly ball in her mouth and drops it into my hand. I throw it, she brings it back, and so on.... She loves this game and we usually play it for close to half an hour!

Sincerely,
Jamie

Kitter and Babies Safe in Foster

Earlier this week we were contacted about a momma cat and babies living outside a rural group home.   One of the staff members sent an email asking us for assistance finding a safe place for the family.

This January a very tame, friendly, charismatic female cat showed up and occasionally she was fed by staff. She came and went and initially we thought maybe she was a farm cat from the area but ultimately that didn't seem to be the case. She was very thin at first and quickly put on weight to a point where she became very rotund and I suspected she was pregnant. On March 25th she gave birth in between the a/c unit and the house. Due to the poor location we moved her under a deck and put her and her 4 kittens into a large box with towels for bedding which she took to very well. Unfortunately we can't have pets at the house and therefore are looking for a better home for the mother and kids. We've named her "Kitter" and her 4 babies (the mother has been fed well) are healthy and precocious.

The family was transported to our vet clinic and after charming the clinic staff they are now safe in their foster home charming and entertaining their foster caregivers.

Kitter and her adorable babies will be ready to meet prospective adopters the end of May and should be ready to go home the end of June so check back for more photos as they grow.

Thank you to the staff at this group home for caring enough to feed and shelter Kitter and her babies until she made it into rescue!

Help us prevent unwanted litters and ease the suffering of homeless pets. Spay and Neuter.

    Cat Scratch Pants

Ben stopped by the Adoption Center a few days ago to test market his science fair invention, "Cat Scratch Pants".

Although Ben doesn't have cats at home, he seems to understand them pretty well. Piglett (below) was only too happy to give the pants a try.

And even without any front claws, Jezzy still found them intriguing. The Cat Scratch Pants were a definite hit at Feline Rescue!

    More Tree Kittens

Momma cats are very good at finding safe places for their babies and in the past few years we've rescued kittens from inside trees three times. The latest is this adorable pair, CadBerry and Bunny, rescued at three weeks of age weighing only six ounces.

    CadBerry
    Bunny

    From their foster mom:
They're both little girls & in honor of the holiday weekend, I named them Bunny and CadBerry (Berry for short).  Their first trip to Larpenteur Animal Hospital was on Friday morning & amazingly, they weren't dehydrated & are in pretty good shape for having been on their own for a while. We already have a feeding routine...they split a 4-ounce bottle of milk-replacement every 3-4 hours. AND, they're accepting a little Baby Cat solid food mixed in their bottles. They're up to 10 ounces each, are lively, lovey & SOOOO funny!!

Berry is more energetic & inquisitive than her sister (at least for now!). She bounces around & is starting to play with tiny toys. Bunny likes to take a nap after she has her bottle, but when she wakes up the girls wrestle & chase each other -- although they tend to fall over frequently from normal kitten instability! And then they take a nap on my lap -- what a joy!

    Portrait of Alice

Alice, former Feline Rescue foster kitty, had her portrait painted by artist Kat Corrigan. Her mom shared the image and a link to Alice's blog post.

    Snickers at Home

Snickers lived at Feline Rescue's adoption center with her feline friends for many years. But she adjusted quickly to living in a home. She especially loves the bird watching. And she's even starting to make new friends.

    Box of Nine Update

Another update for three of the Box of Nine from their foster family.

Spectra, Monkey, and Joey (now known as Stewie) are all doing great in their wonderful new homes.

    Joey

    Monkey and Spectra

When they first came to Feline Rescue crammed in a box or found in the shelter parking lot with 6 other kittens back in September 2011, they were small and sickly. They all spent a signficant amount of time with the good people at Larpentuer Animal Hospital and then recuperating at their foster home. All are now happy and healthy!

Spectra and Monkey went to the same home. They were a bit scared at first, but it didn’t take long for them to settle in! Their dad says, “Both cats (especially Monkey) are total 'cat-dogs' for us, which is just awesome! They typically want to be in whatever room the action is happening, unless it's kitty naptime.”

Stewie fka Joey now has an older brother named Ollie. They are getting to know one another and have been caught snuggling! Their mom says he is a cuddler who is always getting into something! She said he is “the light of the house” and “every day is a new adventure with him!”

They are all huge compared to when we first saw them! And looking so healthy! It's been wonderful to be a part of this amazing transformation!

    Spay and Neuter Your Strays

Feline Rescue outreach volunteers work to reduce the number of homeless cats in our community by helping community members who are caring for strays with trapping cats and coordinating spay/neuter surgeries.

Kittens Minny and Binky were rescued independently by Feline Rescue volunteers as part of a spay/neuter project. They are friendly but scared and just need someone to take them in and build trust with them. We're always happy when we can help get more cats spayed and neutered and off the streets into good homes.

For more information on Minny and Binky, who are looking for a temporary or permanent home, contact Molly at 651-295-3758 or molly.rosenberg@felinerescue.org.

    Update from "Karolyn"

It's been a few weeks since we stopped in to see if we could find a new addition to our family. And we surely did - it was really instant attraction to the young adult you had named "Karolyn". We renamed her "Betty" - and she certainly lives up to her name.

Betty is just a beautiful cat, very social, and so fun and loving. She is a joy! Her transition to her forever home has been very smooth; even our "Robert" enjoys having a little sister.

Yes, we are cat people, but I believe a lot of Betty's mental and physical health can be attributed to the great care she received while she was at the Feline Rescue Center. So thank you for all you do.
