Skittles scuttles!

Remember Candy and her sole surviving kitten Skittles? All five of Candy's kittens had deformed legs and tails, two were stillborn, two more died within days. Skittles is out to show the world that she is going to have as normal a life as possible.

Candy is a good mother keeping Skittles well-fed and perfectly clean. She is teaching Skittles her life skills like using the scratching box and litter box.

Skittles gets around pretty quickly and she loves to play with toys and wrestle when Candy will indulge her. Skittles even does a full body pounce on her mom's tail.

Skittles left rear leg allows her to push off but not actually stand up; her right rear leg, unfortunately is twisted like a corkscrew and not useful. Her stubby tail is also curled firmly like a corkscrew, but is fluffy enough it looks like a bunny tail. She is going to be a special needs girl, but she is oh so loving and fun.

Candy is as sweet as you would expect and she craves petting. The only thing she likes better than cuddles is eating -- you'd think she was nursing a whole litter instead of just little Skittles :-)

Don't blink! Here is a mini-video of Skittle scuttling!!

Note from Snickers: Adopt a Shelter Cat

After being lovingly cared for at Feline Rescue’s shelter for several years, I have settled right into my new home.  I enjoy spending all day in the windows, watching people and birds come and go and breathing in the fresh air.  I almost never have any reason to hide.   Only thunderstorms send me running for cover.  I put up with—and sometimes even join in—the three-ring circus of foster kittens around here.  I love my home!

When you are ready to adopt, please consider adopting an older shelter cat.  Some of my friends are still waiting:

Duke

Sadey

Patrick

Connor

Milo

To meet these cats and more, stop by Feline Rescue's Adoption Center or call 651-642-5900, ext. 3.

Kitten Playtime

Four little girls, Socks, Reggie, Adele, and Scrappy, rough housing just like the boys.

Socks, Adele and Scrappy are siblings rescued from animal control who joined Reggie in her foster home so that she would have playmates just her size.

These little ones still have a ways to go before they are ready for adoption but if you would like to learn more about any of our kittens who are ready for visitors please call 651-705-6264.

Luna and Star at Home

Here's an update from super cute former foster and shelter kitties, Luna and Star.  We're so glad these sisters found a home together!

I just wanted to let you know that Star and Luna are doing great. They are very comfortable in their new home, and they get along fine with our dog. No group cuddling yet, but we are hopeful :-)  Here's a couple of super cute photos.

Grey Kitten Updates

At first Cho was pretty shy but in the past 2 weeks she has become the most loving and cuddly kitten! She loves giving kisses and playing with feet. Today she and the other kittens met Lucien, one of her foster family's cats and she fell in love! She was following him all around the room, giving and getting all the cat kisses!

Bellatrix is still the leader of the group! She loves to explore, whether it's a new person that walks into a room, a loud noise or a fun new toy, she is always the first to check it out.  She loves affection and attention and is such a pleasant little kitten.

Lucius is a hilarious little kitten. He turns everything into a toy and is in constant play mode! Of course he is calm and cuddly too but if he happens to spot a toy roll by he is up in an instant and ready for play. Lucius is a very sweet little mama's boy and when he is asleep, he is always curled up by his mama, Luna.

Kingsley is still a shy boy but has improved greatly. When he first arrived to his foster home, he was a hider and a hisser! He is still easily spooked but will now let you hold him and love on him and play toys with him.  He has even fell asleep in his foster parents arms a few times!

This litter of kittens will be ready to go to their forever homes within a few weeks!  If you are interested in meeting any of these kittens, please contact Joan at 651-705-6264.

Peewee is Home

Peewee has found his home and we just received a glowing update from his family.

I just wanted to share with everyone there about how well Peewee is doing…which is wonderfully! He’s starting to relax to where he feels comfortable to play and be goofy. He’s been enjoying sitting in the windows which sends the local crows into a tizzy. He’s very talkative and affectionate!

When he’s not lounging on the sofa he will follow my daughter or me around. He uses his litter box like a good boy, doesn’t eat my plants and hasn’t bothered my guinea pigs at all. We tried to introduce him to one and well, he ran away scared, poor baby. Peewee is such a good boy and we love him so much. And you can see by the photos he’s made himself right at home!

Know he’s being well cared for and loved!

Foster Home Needed: Please Help!

Update: Foster home found. Thank you all for spreading the word! We will continue to need more foster homes as we anticipate many more kittens being abandoned at our shelter this spring/summer.

Four kittens were dumped in front of the shelter this afternoon in a box.  They were left in the hot sun while the shelter was closed and no one was around to find them. Luckily a volunteer happened to be driving by the shelter and investigated.  These kittens are about 6-8 weeks old and are in desperate need of an immediate foster home.

If you can help, or know of someone who can help, please call ASAP: 651 230-3263.

Hello! HelloKitty

This sweet little girl came in as an orphaned kitten along with a number of other kittens.  She was found outside huddled, with other kittens, around a momma cat who had died.

HelloKitty's foster caregivers have all described this little girl as unique.  For a young kitten she has an "old soul".  Even though she weighs less then a pound and is probably only about 5 weeks old she keeps her fur perfectly clean, hangs back when the other kittens get too crazy playing, and waits patiently, with her tail curled primly around her feet, at mealtimes while the other kittens are yelling and trying to climb their foster moms legs.

HelloKitty is just one of dozens of kittens Feline Rescue has taken in this spring.  We are up to over 18 litters of kittens.  Stay tuned for a new fundraiser to raise money for food and medical care for all of these kittens.  Or you can donate online any time indicating that you would like your donation to assist with caring for kittens in the foster program.  Thank you!

HelloKitty will be for ready for visitors in about a month.  For more information about our available kittens, please contact our volunteer foster adoption coordinator at 651-705-6264.

Almost Caturday!

It's almost Caturday when you hopefully have some more time to cuddle your cats and/or your foster kitties.

Reggie, one of Feline Rescue's cutest foster kittens, is always ready for the work laptop to be put away for some cuddling.

The Lion King Family

Kitter, who came into rescue last month, and her babies are thriving and growing in their foster home.  Their foster family thought it fitting to give this family Lion King themed names so Kitter is now Sarabi and her babies are Nala, Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa.

This group will be available for visits in a few weeks.  Please contact Joan at 651-705-6264 for more information.

Cuddle Puddles

Cuddles Puddles, perfect description for tired out young kittens borrowed from the following group's foster dad.  We also poached some photos from their foster dad's Facebook page as this group is absolutely adorable and photos definitely need to be shared.

These kittens are most likely a mix of a couple litters of kittens but were found together huddled on and around a momma cat who was found dead outside before the kittens were brought into rescue.

They will be ready to find their forever homes in six to eight weeks.
