Andy: ISO guardian angels

This is Andy. Andy is about 12 weeks old, and he became a Feline Rescue "special needs kitty" this week.

A good Samaritan noticed Andy on the side of the road and stopped to pick him up and bring him to medical attention. You can't tell by the photos, but one of his back legs is badly mangled, we think from a run-in with another critter. Our expert orthopaedic consultant thinks his ankle (which looks like a knee on kitties) is too damaged to save, and the leg will have to be amputated. What you can see in the photo are Andy's front paws, curled as he makes biscuits in the air. Andy is a sweet, sweet boy, with a very plucky spirit and lots of love to dispense to his human helpers. He must have at least one good guardian angel who kept him safe from that critter who wanted to have him for lunch, and impulsed a random stranger to rescue him from the streets.
Now Andy is looking for a few more guardian angels. First, he could use some help with his veterinary bills. Would you be willing to sponsor part of Andy's surgical care? Please let Cathy know by calling 651.230.3263 and she will let you know how you can help.

Second, and most importantly, Andy needs a home! Do you have room in your home and heart for a very special little 3-legged cat? Sign up now!

For more information about Andy, to have any questions answered, or to start an adoption application, call Cathy at 651-230-3263

She was smart.
She was cranky.
She was odd.
She was Adorable.
She had strong opinions.
She could sing for her supper – also lunch and breakfast and snacks.
She was so Odd that she was Adorable.
We Loved Her.
She was Precious.

In memory of Subira and Frazier, help Feline Rescue help even more kitties. Find out how you can help.

We love you Frazier

Long-time shelter favorite Frazier (pictured center) passed away peacefully last night with friends by his side. Frazier had many admirers of both the feline- and people-kind. He will be greatly missed.

Stinkerbell and Stasi

We just received another great Stinkerbell and Stasi update. When we last posted an update this pair, adopted from Feline Rescue a year apart, were well on their way to being closely bonded friends.
From their mom:
The kitties are doing really well. Stasi is still nervous around new people, but he is completely devoted to me, and is a real love bug. The last time I weighed him, he was 18 pounds! He and Stinkerbell are cuddling and playing all the time, and love the nice weather with open windows for better bird-watching (and listening).

Cleopatra's New Additions

Cleopatra was recently abandoned at the Feline Rescue Adoption Center and it was quickly apparent to volunteers that she was due to deliver kittens any day.

Fifi's foster caregiver agreed to also take in Cleopatra and yesterday Cleopatra gave birth to eight kittens as sleek and beautiful as mom. Initial guess by foster mom is that there are 5 girls and 3 boys.

Congratulations to both momma cat and foster mom who will be quite busy taking care of this large family.

PURR PURR PURR PURR PURR

Looking for a kitten that loves to purr, snuggle, and cuddle when she's not too busy playing? You're in luck 14 week old Button is looking for her forever home.

Button is one of Lulu's babies and she's ready to venture out. Most of her siblings have already been spoken for but being a black kitten, catching someone's eye is a bit tough at times.

Because Button is a very young kitten she will need to find a home where there is another young cat to play with or be adopted with another kitten.

If you are interested in meeting cute Button, please call Joan at 651-705-6264.

Brothers Together

Ted and Sam, fka the Seuss Brothers, are really enjoying life in their home.  Looks like they have a great view to do some bird watching.

We've come to fully learn and enjoy the Seuss Brothers' distinct personalities, though we still can't tell them apart from far off, without collars (so they wear collars!)

- Ted is the talker - meows in a high pitch, rouses us from outside the bedroom door in the morning. He likes to try to get into restricted spaces, including the fridge. He loves joining us in whatever room we're in, and sometimes will get on his hind legs and tap one of us on the arm when he wants attention. He likes being petted on the head/chin.

- Sam is usually silent and a little more affectionate than Ted. He loves tummy rubs, and will drape himself across us if we're laying down on the couch. He also has a loud purr.

- Both of them love the screened porch -- hard to get them off of it in the summer. Ted sometimes chirps at the birds or squirrels from his perch on the window sill.

- We've enticed them with a number of toys, but the favorite continues to be the cheap rubber golf ball that each likes to carry in his mouth, and then drop it to play soccer. After nearly a year, there are lots of these balls in the apartment, many under pieces of furniture.

We're very happy to have adopted them, and thank Denise for the great foster parenting. They came with great personalities!

Thanks to Ted's and Sam's family for the fun update!

Meet two of the Vikings kittens!

Jerod Allen and Ryan Longwell are two of the five Vikings kittens born on January 24, 2010, before the Vikings big playoff game. Once they were old enough to be away from their mama, Dutchess, these two grey cuties went to a foster home of their own. Now that they're nearly six months old they are ready for forever homes. We'd love it if these two brothers could be adopted together! You can read more about them on their Petfinder page, and for more information about them, please call Joan at 651.705.6264.

Wayne and the Gang

Sometimes I wish we had a surveillance camera to see what the cats at the Adoption Center do when no one's around to watch. We came across this scene late Friday afternoon, after most of the people had gone home...

The cats who shy away from too much attention come out to play when the place quiets down. Whatever was going on in there, Wayne sure looks tuckered out!

Here are Sadey and Wayne (in the foreground) with Patrick and Neptune (in back).

To find out more about Sadey, Wayne, or the rest of the gang, stop by the Feline Rescue Adoption Center or call: 651-642-5900, ext. 3.

More photos of Rousseau's babies from their foster mom. She has caught them in two of the three main kitten activities: eating, sleeping and playing. Playing is best caught on video especially with these active 8 week old kittens.
