Holiday greetings from Nelson

Nelson was originally Chip, one of the Chipmunk kittens, and you know how they love Christmas!
Hello Denise,

I just wanted to send my wishes to you and yours for a happy holiday. I hope you have a peaceful Christmas and a wonderful New Year.

Nelson is doing great! He has become much better about not bothering the girls (i.e., the resident cats). I took your advice and when ever he tries to terrorize them he gets it with the squirt bottle. Once we became diligent and consistent he got the point that he should not continue the behavior.

We have had 2 mice in the house which the girls presented to us as Christmas gifts. Nelson does not quite know what to do with the real thing. Even though the girls had already killed the mice he was still afraid of them.

Typical male kitty, lets the girls do all the work! Ha!

Take Care Denise,

L

Peace for the Holidays

This family group (formerly known as Juliet and the sausage kittens) looked like they were turning into a dysfunctional family recently. A strange cat was hanging around outside their house and it got the younger cats living inside so upset that they started fighting with each other. The adopters were concerned that this might become an ongoing problem and sought advice:

Denise, Thank you for getting back to me. The problem started about 10/1 and we had to separate the kids from each other about 10/15 after a “fight to the death” episode. Mama (Juliette) diligently split her time between the kids for more than a month until we finally had a successful “re-introduction” last Friday. After a couple days of checking each other out, they are once again napping, grooming and playing together. We’re all a big, happy family again. Yeah!!!

Apparently, this is not an uncommon problem (re-directed aggression) in multiple cat homes. There was plenty of helpful info online that helped us to understand and then solve the problem. We were approaching the point where professional help may have been the next step – perhaps a kitty whisperer?

I’ll send a current photo of Mama and the kids soon.

K

Hi Denise, This photo was taken last week just three days after their re-introduction. Jack (formerly Jake) and Lily (formerly Judy) seem just as close to each other now than they were prior to their “spat.” And Mama is just happy to see her kids getting along again - and so are we.

Happy Holidays!

All I want for Christmas

...is a home of my own, with someone to love just me. OK, if you already have another cat or doggy, you just need to love me the best.

Love,

Mother & Daughter -- a Special Pair

"So do you guys think that Perdy + Fannie Mae should stay together?!? : )"

I got this note from the foster mom of these cats. I think the answer is obvious, but here is a second photo in case any of you weren't sure....

Two Cats are better than one -- Proved Again!

Remember the Formerly Feral Fluffy Fancy Pants: Finnegan & Fiona (actually Fergus)? They didn't go to a home together, but both went to homes with a new kitty friend already waiting for them.

Here's Sebastian (formerly Finn) discovering his first pumpkin
and playing with his new friend Mystic.
Notice that even as a kitten he had a desire to tangle with black kitties -- It was meant to be!
Thanks to Finn's adopter for the update! We LOVE to post updates.

Adoption Event Sat. Dec. 6, 11-2

Feline Rescue foster kittens and momma cats will be meeting and greeting people at the Roseville Petco from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 6.

This year's summer kittens are now adolescents, and we expect an enthusiastic turnout, many at their first (and we hope their last!) adoption event. If you live in the Twin Cities and have room in your home for one or two great little cats, come meet Andy and Barney, The Little Women kittens (Meg, Jo, Beth, Amy, and Laurie, and yes, Laurie is the boy), the Vanalikalikes (Georgie, Pookie, Puddin and Pi) and cousin Shinichi Spud, Johnny, Matt and Damon, the Radcliffs (Perdita, Fanny Mae and Penelope), and... I know there are more, but I can't remember all of the names! Anyway, there will be lots of cats, so come on out. (You can look them up by name in our PetFinders listing.)

We're new!

The outdoor feeding station at the Feline Rescue shelter was turned against the wall one day and when it was turned around, there were two cold little buff-colored kittens. It was clear they had been living outside because of their rough footpads, fleas and ear mites, but they were very friendly so they had been cared for by people at some point. The fleas and earmites were treated, they were neutered and off to a foster home as soon as we had room.

Here is what their new fostermom has to say:
This is the best picture I could get so far of Matt and Damon. They are sweethearts! They purr and purr and snuggle and PLAY. Penelope is so excited.

Where's Frankie?

Some kitties won't take "No" for an answer when they are looking for love, warmth, companionship and maybe a bath. Frankie is one such kitten.

It all started with Frankie and Johnny.
Frankie and Pookie at the beach.
Frankie and Seri -- bathtime.
Frankie and Spud and Pookie restin' in the treetop
Frankie and John form a perfect heart.
Frankie and Dolly: A fluffy friend on a chilly day.
Frankie and Sharae: Even she can't resist him.
Frankie surrounded by his adoring foster family.

And yes, Frankie and most of his friends are available for adoption!
