The Latest from Betsy's Family

We posted a few photos when Betsy's babies were just one week old and just received a couple more photos to share from their foster dad.

Betsy and kittens are doing very well and should be ready to find homes of their own in a couple months.

Welcome the Barton Family

Feline Rescue took in one more new family this past Friday, the Bartons. Momma cat Clara Beth Barton had been trying to raise seven kittens out there on her own.

Clara Beth and Emma Lou

Clara Beth

She is quite thin and her two month old kittens are all small and underweight for their age. The smallest of the kittens, little Anthony, is just 14 oz. Now in a safe foster home they should all start gaining weight.

You may recognize Peggy, Dorothy, and Sonja in the photos. They are all temporarily together as the three one month olds prepare to move to another foster home tomorrow.

We'll have more updates as they grow.

Please spay and neuter your cats to prevent unwanted litters.

Brownie's New Home

It took almost 9 months but Brownie recently found her family!  Brownie was adopted by one of Feline Rescue's dedicated shelter volunteers.

Just wanted to say that Brownie aka Emma is making great progress in the W. household. She is especially fond of Peggy and of course Winston (see photo above).

Paul

Thank you Paul and family!

Good Morning Kittens!

Three four week old orphaned kittens were rescued earlier this week. Dorothy, Peggy and Sonja are doing very well as the video indicates. They've even become quite active, adventurous little girls in the past couple days.

Hope you enjoy their first video.

Eight is Enough

Callie aka Twiggy was rescued just in time to deliver her huge family (8 kittens!) in a safe foster home.

Throughout the day yesterday, starting in the morning, updates were sent as at first foster caregivers thought there were 4 kittens then 5 kittens and finally late afternoon 8 kittens.

The latest this morning from Twiggy's foster family:
There are still 8 kittens. 5 calicos, 2 orange and white, 1 gray and white (who might end up being calico - haven't had the chance to examine closely). When I looked in this morning they were all in a giant kitten pile sleeping, which I assume means they've been well fed.

Momma ate quite a bit yesterday after it was all over - 1 6oz can of food and 1 3oz can, however she is uninterested in eating this morning. I even tried turkey baby food which in my household is usually a sure thing - she licked at that but didn't finish. She also sat in my lap this morning for the first time ever.

I don't know if it's possible for a cat to feel overwhelmed, but if it is I'm pretty sure that's what she is feeling.

We've been calling momma "Twiggy" since she is SO thin. I'm hoping once the whole kitten rearing thing is over she's able to gain some weight.

Quite the colorful group of kittens, we'll be posting more photos as these babies grow and become available for adoption when they are 3 months old.

Please spay and neuter your pets to prevent unwanted litters.

Hinckley the Peanut Butter Kitty

Hinckley's rescuers found her emaciated, scared, wet, and dirty on the side of the highway near Hinckley, MN last year with a plastic peanut butter jar stuck on her head. This poor little girl was frantic and hoarse from crying.

Her rescuers contacted Feline Rescue a couple months after finding her when they had to move and could no longer care for her. Hinckley has been doing well in her new foster home for the past few months and is learning to trust her new people. She will be ready to find her forever home once she is a bit more relaxed in her foster home.

The latest update from her foster caregivers:
Hinckley is slowly becoming more comfortable around us. She is still pretty nervous when one of us wants to pet her. She is starting to follow me around the house and wants to be where I am. She is starting to sleep on the bed with us, but if we try to touch or pet her she tends to run. The fact that she is wanting to be in the same room with us is a great sign.

In Loving Memory of Riley

Riley, a beloved and long-time resident at Feline Rescue, passed away last week. He was surrounded by cats and people who loved him. Riley was most often found squeezed into a bed or basket with with two or three other cats. He greatly enjoyed the companionship of his many friends in the "shy room", particularly Duke (fellow orange tabby) and little Daisy Mae.

We miss you, Riley.

One Week Old

Momma cat Betsy gave birth to four sweet babies last week.  Three babies were born on March 31 and the fourth was born just after midnight on April 1.

Their foster dad took these photos a couple days ago.  We're looking forward to many more photo updates as the kittens grow.

We have been taking in many stray, pregnant cats and orphaned kittens as the weather started warming up.  Please spay and neuter your pets to prevent unwanted litters.

Have a home for a barn cat?

Healthy, spayed/neutered feral cats need new outdoor homes. These
cats make ideal residents for farms, stables, barns, and other
suitable locations with outdoor shelter options. You would be
responsible for providing daily food, water, shelter from the
elements, and long-term veterinary care. The cats will need a brief
period of adjustment. Assistance will be provided during the
relocation process. For more information call Molly 651-295-3758 or info@felinerescue.org.

Valentina's Puppy

We try to find homes for our kittens so that they have a playmate and a companion so we include a couple sentences similar to the following on each of their profiles:

"Valentina is a young kitten. She will need to go to a home where there is another young cat or be adopted with another kitten so that she has a playmate."

Valentina's new family has a puppy and Valentina's foster mom thought that might be a good match for her. So Valentina's new playmate is a puppy and we recently received these super cute photos of the two of them after just a week of getting to know each other.

Here are some photos that we took today, I think Penny and Valentina are getting along pretty well after a week.

Sit down and have a Cookie

When Cookie McBurney first lost her home and came to the adoption center, she was afraid and very shy. But the kind volunteers at Feline Rescue went out of their way to make Cookie feel at home. Now she's an affectionate lap cat.

If you have an empty lap in your home, you should have a Cookie.

You provide the lap, and Cookie will bring the love!

To meet Cookie, stop by the Feline Rescue Adoption Center or call 651-642-5900, ext.3.
