Pookie was rescued through Feline Rescue's Outreach program. She safely gave birth to 1 gray and 3 black kittens in a foster home October 19. On October 21 a two day old, orange tabby kitten was dropped off at the Feline Rescue Adoption Center. The baby was cold, thin and weak so volunteers immediately tried warming and feeding the kitten. Within hours Pookie's foster caregiver, a teacher who fortunately had the day off, was able to pick up the orphan. Pookie took one look at the new baby and started cleaning and caring for him.
Another happy beginning thanks to all the volunteers involved: the outreach volunteers, the shelter volunteers, and Pookie's foster volunteers.

Injured Cat Rescued from Dumpster
Update: Cody has a foster home!
Feline Rescue volunteers have been working in a trailer park to make life better for the large number of stray cats living in and around the dumpsters. Outreach volunteers have been providing food for the cats and kittens and trapping cats to spay and neuter and administer needed vaccines and medication. Life in the dumpsters is dangerous. Cats can get injured from broken glass or other sharp objects, collapsing trash, caught limbs, etc.
This past Wednesday volunteers found a young male cat, who they named Cody. Cody was in pain walking on his wrist. He was taken to the animal hospital Thursday morning. Doctors there determined that he has been suffering from multiple breaks in his right front leg. The injuries are a few months old with breaks in the upper arm bone and the joint, muscle mass in the leg has decreased, bone has calcified on the wrist he was walking on, and the wrist is flexed back now. Cody is only about a year old so he's most likely been suffering with the injury 1/4 of his life.
Cody will need surgery and then a foster home for recovery. If you can help with Cody's care, please contact Joan at 651-705-6264, visit felinerescue.org or click the "Donate" button to the right of this post.

Feline Football Fans
Andrew, James, Patrick, Irene, Trudy and Nonnie are all still Vikings football fans (or at least fans of anything moving on the TV screen) despite the Vikings less than stellar season so far.
If you are interested in adopting any of these feline football fans, please contact Joan at 651-705-6264.

Bo Jenkins the Bus Stop Kitten
Bo Jenkins (aka Bus Stop) was recently rescued at a bus stop after narrowly avoiding being run over. Bo Jenkins is quite the character and, based on the videos taken by his foster caregiver, he's fascinated with water.
Beautiful orange striped with white socks.
Optimistic - is always ready for attention, love, and play, especially with other cats.
Just pick me up already!
Energetic - likes to run, jump, and play with toys.
Nosy - likes to get up in everybody's business
Kind
Interesting facial features.
Never a dull moment.
Snuggle buddy - loves to curl up and sleep with you.
If you are interested in meeting Bo Jenkins, please contact Joan at 651-705-6264.

Message from Phillip
Phillip found his family and has already sent us a great update.
Dear friends at Feline Rescue,
I am already settling into my new home with the Dixons. I wasn't scared at all. jnmmmmmm (I typed that part myself) There are many interesting things to smell and investigate. There are also two laps ready to be sat upon. I can hear and smell another cat on the other side of a door, but so far we have only been allowed to chirp at each other. Perhaps in a week or two she will be my friend.
With love and furry head-butts,
Phillip

Brother and Sister Looking for a Forever Family
After their first family moved out of the country and were unable to take them with, Winnie and Piglet Jr. came back to Feline Rescue to find their true forever home. This brother and sister pair are two of Kanga's very sweet babies.
As their current foster caregivers say "they are perfect kitties, friendly, affectionate and very easy to care for". They are past the super energetic kitten phase and are great companions.
If you are interested in adopting two wonderful cats, please contact Joan at 651-705-6264.
