Everybody Loves James

Big orange boy James makes friends wherever he goes, which now that I think of it is only to the vet or the groomer. But, he happily makes friends with anyone who comes into his home.

In his previous life, he roamed the streets of St. Paul. The people who rescued him and brought him to Feline Rescue’s shelter christened him after the street on which they found him, James Avenue. The name stuck and it fits this mellow, friendly cat.

His mom met him at the shelter and was most impressed with the size of his head and paws (extra large), his funny voice (hoarse) and his nature (affectionate and cuddly). That was in 2003. Luckily, she had just moved to a new house and had room to add a cat.

These days, James spends an inordinate amount of time following the sun as it moves from window to window. His former favorite toy, a twisted pipe cleaner, has been abandoned for a higher tech plaything: the cords of the window shades. Their little wooden knobs are great fun to bang into walls. In the dead of night they make the most amazing little slapping sounds.

He enjoys playing with his German Shepherd ‘sister’, Daisy, and amazes his friends by letting the big dog take his head in her mouth. Not to worry, it is all done safely in pursuit of a good time for all participants.

James is grateful to the people at Feline Rescue who took him in and made him ready for his forever wonderful life.
