It takes a special person to adopt a cat with known medical issues. Pearl, fka Siam, was fortunate to find her special person shortly after making her way to Feline Rescue, and we've recently received an great update on Pearl in her home.
Hello all,
I just wanted to give you a little update on our friend Siam. First her name is now Pearl. Second, she is the oddest little cat I have ever met. Had her checked out to make sure she was healthy and found she has some kidney insufficiency, which was expected. However, then she started vomiting and couldn't keep any food down and after more tests it looks like she has inflammatory bowel disease, or maybe lymphoma. I am not yet ready to put her through a major abdominal surgery to find out for sure. Either way she is responding very well to prednisone therapy and continues to eat well.
She scared me after the first couple of days, I heard the most awful cries coming from her in the bedroom and rushed to see what was wrong only to find her carrying around her toy. Turns out she likes to carry things around the house, toys or socks or paper or whatever, and she cries while doing it. I will come home at the end of the day to find a pile of items on the bedroom floor. Go figure.
I also found out I need to be careful with my plastic bags, more than a few have turned up with holes because she likes to chew on plastic! What a character. Thank you for all the love and care you gave her!
Susan
Thank you Susan!
