Cuddly Brothers

Unfortunately summer is almost over and it's going to start getting cold soon here in Minnesota. That's where Tucker (aka Jonesy) and Sebastian (aka Mr. Jones) come in, these two very cuddly brothers will certainly help keep you warm and toasty on a cold winter night.

Sebastian and Tucker

Tucker
Tucker just wants to be your buddy - y'know, follow you around, cuddle, hang out, cuddle, get some belly rubs, cuddle....you get the idea. He's such a good-natured little guy you can't help but love him. All it takes is making eye contact and he's at your side, purring away and looking for some lovin'. He's fine with being held, pretty much any way you want to hold him, and being carried around...as long as he's with you, it's all good.

Sebastian
Sweet and sensitive, that's Sebastian. He's got a refined quality that goes with his soft silky fur and his pretty white eyeliner - such a pretty cat! He's not as rambunctious overall as his brother Tucker, but he likes to play just like any kitten. This little fellow also enjoys curling up on pillows next to your head & purring himself to sleep. No doubt he will be an excellent lap cat to curl up with on a cold winter night.

Please call Joan at 651-705-6264 if you are interested in learning more about Tucker and Sebastian.

Mina and Mona, Playing in the Sun

Mina and Mona were rescued with their four siblings, momma cat, and poppa cat. Unfortunately because momma cat was having a hard time feeding all of her kittens due to lack of food, these two were half the size they should have been and extremely malnourished.
Fortunately they were placed in one of our very experienced foster homes where they were syringe fed every few hours around the clock and given subcutaneous fluids twice daily. They are doing much better, have been gaining weight, and now have enough energy to start playing like kittens should.

Precious Patrice

It has been a very busy week for, 4 ½ month old Patrice. Last week this beautiful little girl was found on the side of the road hurt and afraid. Thankfully a Feline Rescue volunteer found her and brought her in. Upon examination the vet found that Patrice had a broken femur and would need major surgery. After her surgery she was taken to her new foster home, where she is now resting comfortably. It will take some time for Patrice to recover, and her first few weeks following surgery will be spent on kennel rest, but she is doing very well!
Thankfully, Patrice was given a second chance at living a happy life. She is a very sweet girl, just looking at her makes her purr and scoot up against her kennel (she is not too good at walking on her hurt leg yet). She will also let you know when she wants to be pet by sticking her little paw out and gently pulling you to reach inside the kennel and pet her.
Please, If you can help with Patrice’s care, contact Cathy at 651-230-3263, visit www.felinerescue.org or click the "Donate" button just to the right of this post. Thank you.

Cleo's Kittens + Toilet Paper = Trouble

New update from Cleo's and her kittens' foster mom.

They are 9 weeks old as of yesterday, just got their first shots this morning.

They are playing a lot, eating, sleeping and generally enjoying life like all kittens should! Cleo is still sweet and gentle. The vet said that she isn't quite two, so still a baby also. She is able to relax more now and play with glitter balls and wrestle with her kids.

This family will be ready to go home in a few weeks. If you'd like to meet them, please call Joan at 651-705-6264.

Tessa and Ella

Tessa and Ella ended up in foster care through Feline Rescue's outreach program. They were living on the streets of Minneapolis with their mom Deirdra. After spending a couple of weeks at the animal hospital gaining weight and receiving medical care, they are now two healthy, sweet, lively kittens who enjoy chasing each other around their foster home and playing with the other foster kittens.

Tessa and Ella will be available for adoption in about a month but are accepting visitors now. If you'd like to learn more about them, please call Joan at 651-705-6264.

Rocky, Adrian and Their Canine Friend Dakota

Rocket fka Rocky, a kitten rescued through Feline Rescue's outreach program, and Adrian, the last of the Vikings kittens whose mom Duchess came to us through Red Lake Rosie's Rescue, became friends in foster care and went home together last weekend.

We've received the following great updates from their new family. Introductions to their new (and first) canine friend Dakota are going very well.

Sunday, August 8
They are busy exploring my laundry room. I put down some soft blankets and towels. And they both have already eaten some food.

I've got a couple of pictures for you---sorry for the "bathroom" pictures but it's the only time they slow down enough for a picture. Rocky is completely fascinated with the camera strap so I've got a few extreme closeups of his face. The last picture blur -Rocky launching himself off of the carpeted cat cube.

Thanks for letting me adopt Rocky and Adrian. They are very sweet cats.

Tuesday, August 10
They had a great time tonight (Tuesday). Rocky jumped over the baby gate and proceeded to walk under Dakota. Rocky and Dakota sat at opposite ends of my couch and watched a large wild rabbit from the 2nd floor window. I'm not sure who was more interested. Adrian stayed behind the babygate. She got tired out with the fish pole toy.

Both are doing well.

Sunday, August 15
Rocket and Adrian are doing well. Rocket is fearless as you can see from the first photo. He has already swatted Dakota's tail a few times (Dakota is used to cats doing this). He has tried to get into the fridge, the dryer, the shower and anything else that is available. The window bird feeder is his favorite spot especially when the chickadees fly in and out.

Dakota and Rocky

Adrian has started to explore the house a little more. A few scraps of turkey plus play time upstairs has helped. The 2nd photo was taken a few minutes after the first. I put Dakota into a down/stay whenever Adrian is around and that helps. When turkey is available she doesn't even notice Dakota.

Dakota's paws, Rocky, and Adrian

I'll send a picture of Rocket by the bird feeder if he ever sits still enough.

Monica

Adrian's mom Duchess is still looking for her forever home. If you would like to learn more about her, please call Joan at 651-705-6264.

Sydney: Still looking for your lap

If you're looking for the perfect little cat to keep you company, Sydney is looking for you too! She came from a foster home to the adoption center in hopes of meeting new people. Sydney loves people but is afraid of other cats. So while she appreciates all the love and attention from the volunteers here at the adoption center, Sydney would much rather come home with you to live among people instead of all these cats.

Sydney is a quiet cat who likes to sit on laps but she likes fun and games too. With a Charlie Chaplin moustache like that, is there any doubt that she’d be anything but entertaining?!
To learn more about Sydney, visit the Feline Rescue Adoption Center or call 651-642-5900, ext.3.

Gandalf & Coyote

SIDNEY & BRETT ARE GANDALF &COYOTE IN THEIR NEW HOME:

I am finally getting around to sending you the pictures I promised. The two have grown quite a bit. They're both just over 8 lbs, with Gandalf being rather tall and sleek and masculine and Coyote is still very feminine but not as sleek. We're trying to keep her from getting too round ;)

They absolutely love my large fish tank and the fish have finally decided not to freak out EVERY time the cats come to check them out. They also like to play with the laser pointer, feather toy, sparkly ball, furry mouse toy, and watch TV.
Coyote is earning her name by being the more wiley of the two. She has recently decided that darting out into the hallway as we're leaving for work is a way to get us to pay more attention to her rather than leaving for work. I have never seen such a bold cat. It's a good thing we live in an apartment building on the third floor so she can't escape immediately.

Gandalf likes to headbutt books out of hands because they get in the way of HIS attention. Not that he wants to necessarily be petted at the moment. He just wants to make sure that we're available when he does.

So, it appears as though they've successfully taken control of both us and the apartment with little trouble.

R~

The picture of the two of them was taken July 30.
The individual photos were taken in mid-June not long after adopting them.

Four Sisters Ready to Find Homes

Gracie, Lily, Athena, and Ellie were abandoned at the Feline Rescue Adoption Center July 23. All of our foster homes were full at the time, but fortunately, shortly after being found outside the building, a volunteer working at the shelter that morning was able to take them home and foster the sisters.

Her Name Is Lola...

And she was a popular, long term resident at the adoption center until just recently when she found her home.

Update from Lola's family:

Hi. I just wanted to pass along that Lola has been doing great at her new home. She is also putting up with Shi Shi (our male 9 yr old). See the attached pic to see one of her new favorite spots.

Thanks again for letting us adopt Lola.
