Volunteer steps up to the plate to help mom feed ten babies

A stray mom with ten kittens was brought to Feline Rescue last week. Thankfully, an Adoption Center volunteer stepped up to take this family home.

This kitty is a good mom but can't keep up with feeding 10 babies, so Katherine lends a hand.  While they are nursing, Katherine bottle feeds each kitten supplemental KMR (Kitten Milk Replacer).

So they all end up with full tummies!

Katherine weighs each kitten every day. They are all gaining weight.

You can help too.  Volunteer to foster, be sure to get your pets spayed and neutered, and help make sure the cats in your community are spayed and neutered.

Little Piggies

We've been lacking blog posts recently mainly due to one of our bloggers, me, taking in a family with 6 kittens needing to be bottle fed.  They've been keeping me very busy.  Momma cat, Jolie, and babies were pulled from an animal control facility.  Jolie had come into the facility pregnant and was there for almost 2 weeks before giving birth to 6 sweet babies on July 9.  She was there with her babies for almost 2 weeks more before Feline Rescue heard about her and found a foster home to take her.

Jolie was ill and ended up spending a few days at the vet clinic which meant her babies had to be bottle fed around the clock every 4-5 hours.  Once Jolie returned to her foster home they still needed to be bottle fed 4 times daily since Jolie is still recovering and trying to gain some weight.

The babies will be 3 weeks old tomorrow and have received the nickname The Little Piggies as they are eating very well what with formula and momma's milk. They are already all weighing between 13 and 15 ounces.

So much orange!

Meet some of Feline Rescue's newest foster babies! These two orange babies are fitting in quite well in their new foster home!

This is little Henry! When he isn't running around the house, playing with his brother, he is sitting with his foster mom and giving her cuddles. He has quite interesting hair that is a bit more wirey than most but what he is lacking in softness he makes up for in all the love he gives!

William is the darker orange kitten. He is very loving and playful. He always looks like he is smiling and he is a big purrer, the second you come near him (even when it's to pick him up because he is being naughty) he starts purring so loud!

These kittens will be ready to go to their forever home in about two weeks, but if you are interested in adopting them they would love to have a visit! Please call Joan at 651-705-6264 for more information!

Steve is Home

Steve fka Hobo has found his forever home! His family sent an update and video after his first night home and we've also received a bunch of great photos of Steve loving his new home.

First Night with Hobo

I just thought that I would let you know that the first night went very well as far as I am concerned. When he got home we let him out of the carrier, he made a couple of laps around the place and then hid under the bed for an hour. After that he came out and sat by me on the couch and nuzzled up to me. He would lay next to me at night and then get up and wonder around then come back and repeat. This morning he woke me up by sitting on my chest and staring at me. He has used his litter box and like to sit on the table and look out the window. I could not be more happy with him and the work the you are doing.

Video of him coming out of his kennel.

I feel truly blessed to have Steve (Hobo) as my new friend, he has been awesome. He loves to sit and look out the window and watch the world around him, also loves to cuddle up and get love from me. He has been every thing that I was looking for in my first feline companion.

Here are some pictures that I have taken over the first week.

Lucius and Cho!

Ever since their Mama and brother and sister went to their forever homes, Cho and Lucius's personalities have really started to shine!

Of course they have their foster mom's cats to get all of their big kitty love from, but they are still looking for their forever homes!

Lucius used to be the most independent of the kittens and now he follows his foster mom around the house constantly. He loves being held, cuddled and brushed! The second you touch his silky soft fun he starts purring!

Cho used to be shy and quite. Now she loves to play and run around the house pouncing on the big cats! She loves people attention and is a big cuddle bug too!

If you are interested in adopting Cho or Lucius (or both!) please call Joan at 651-705-6264!

Happy Fourth!

These four kittens were abandoned in a box on a hot day. No more living in boxes for these cuties.  They are having a blast at their foster home. They love all the people, the big cats, and the dog.  These kittens can play and purr like crazy!

Lynxie, Hai-Ro (that's Japanese for gray), To-Ra (Tiger), and Shiro-Tabi (white socks) will soon be spayed and neutered and available for adoption. If you are interested in learning more about these kitties, please call 651-705-6264.
