Mayberry family

Update from a foster mom:
Missy was a pregnant stray that a kind lady took into her home to have her litter. Missy and her five kittens were brought to the shelter and are now living in a foster home. The kittens names are – Andy, Barney, Opie and Otis. Do you know what TV show this is from? The little girl of the bunch is named Tippy the tortie, because of a white tip on her tail. She just didn’t look like an Aunt Bea.

Autumn was an orphaned kitten that was brought to the shelter. Since Missy was such a good mom, we thought putting Autumn with her litter would be a good idea. And it was.

During Autumn’s first hour with the kittens, she walked around the edge of the room to watch them play and tumble on each other. She couldn’t figure out why they were biting each other and rolling around. She finally thought she might give it a go and reached out to touch Opie, the orange tabby. He reached back, she hissed, but soon they were tumbling on each other. Now she is the terror of the group and the first one to pounce.

Her next step was to figure out what this nursing business was about. She watched as all the kittens laid in a pile next to Mom. She finally got the nerve to lower her head and she went in. She made her way to Mom’s belly and liked it. Now she will nurse on her own while Missy licks her clean. You would never know she was not one of Missy’s kittens.

  1. This is a wonderful story! I had Autumn at my house for a few days before she joined this family, and she is SO cute! I will try to post a video of her soon.
