It takes a special person to adopt a cat with known medical issues. Pearl, fka Siam, was fortunate to find her special person shortly after making her way to Feline Rescue, and we've recently received an great update on Pearl in her home.
Hello all,
I just wanted to give you a little update on our friend Siam. First her name is now Pearl. Second, she is the oddest little cat I have ever met. Had her checked out to make sure she was healthy and found she has some kidney insufficiency, which was expected. However, then she started vomiting and couldn't keep any food down and after more tests it looks like she has inflammatory bowel disease, or maybe lymphoma. I am not yet ready to put her through a major abdominal surgery to find out for sure. Either way she is responding very well to prednisone therapy and continues to eat well.
She scared me after the first couple of days, I heard the most awful cries coming from her in the bedroom and rushed to see what was wrong only to find her carrying around her toy. Turns out she likes to carry things around the house, toys or socks or paper or whatever, and she cries while doing it. I will come home at the end of the day to find a pile of items on the bedroom floor. Go figure.
I also found out I need to be careful with my plastic bags, more than a few have turned up with holes because she likes to chew on plastic! What a character. Thank you for all the love and care you gave her!
Susan
Thank you Susan!

Tessa the Lion Tamer
Sometimes a cats' favorite toys are things they've found around the house: a wadded up piece of paper, empty cardboard box, bottle cap, twist tie, etc. Tessa, a Feline Rescue foster kitten, has decided that the stuffed animal she recently discovered is her new favorite toy and she is determined to put this lion in its place.
If you are interested in meeting Tessa, please contact Joan at 651-705-6264.

Sticker's Christmas Miracle
Update from one of our adoption center volunteers yesterday (12/21):
Sticker jingled his bells and led Santa's sleigh right out the door into his forever home.
Sticker is a new kitty available for adoption at our adoption center who along with wanting to be the feline Spud's MacKenzie tried to be one of Santa's reindeer:
...OK, I admit I like to watch a bit of NASCAR now and then. Zoom!! Zoooom!! Not as fast as me but almost. And when I stop zooming, I just love people who pet me. Scratch my neck. Give me a hug. I’m not famous. I’m not rich. And the name’s not Spuds MacKenzie. I’m a very happy cat with a very happy black tail and a little wet black nose. Got disqualified on the reindeer gig, too. Nose needed to be red, they said. I’m a happy guy. Take me home with you – you’ll be happy – probably I’ll even get you laughing.
So courtesy of photo editing software we thought we'd help make Sticker's Christmas wish come true.
And what would make Sticker even happier would be to find his family for the holidays. To meet Sticker, stop by the Feline Rescue adoption center or call 651-642-5900, ext.3.

The Pipster!
Pippi, affectionately known as The Pipster, is a super friendly girl full of personality. The holiday photo op above was from last year when she first arrived as a little kitten and wasn't yet available for adoption. Pippi is a smart girl, she remembered the "fun" she had last year sporting her reindeer outfit and successfully thwarted any attempts this year.
From the volunteer who unsuccessfully attempted to dress Pippi up this year:
The first attached photo is Justine; she is not pleased. The second is what happened when I tried to put the Santa hat on "The Pipster". She promptly yanked it off and threw it at what was a peacefully sleeping Fuzz, causing him to do the attached channeling of his inner Michael Dukakis....
And after seeing Pippi in her reindeer outfit:
No wonder she was so good at removing the Santa hat that I tried to put on her; she's had experience!
To meet Pippi or Fuzz, stop by the Feline Rescue adoption center or call 651-642-5900, ext.3

Nicky - Home for the Holidays
Cora, fka Nicky, was recently adopted and is already settled in with her new family.
Nicky, now Cora, is already settling in. She was first in the bathroom until she used the litter box. Now she is currently in the guest bedroom. She is eating and drinking well, discovered the comfort of one of the cat beds I put with her, and has been playing with toys. Mel has seen her twice, once in the carrier, and once while I held him and opened the bathroom door... he just meowed at her. I am attaching a couple of pictures of her that I thought you might enjoy. Thank you so much, she is going to bring Mel and I a lot of joy.
And another update just a couple days later...
She is out of her room today, nose to nose with her brother Mel and really investigating her new surroundings. She is a sweetheart!!! Thank you so much for letting her into our lives.

Sasha says... Let it snow!
Sasha is all cozy in her little winter house, asking Santa for a new family for Christmas. So what's a little snow, here at the North Pole?
Well, I don't know about the North Pole, but here in Minnesota there's a lot of new snow outside the front door.
We certainly didn't go outside today. Brrrr. Not to mention, we can't even open the door. So, what to do when you're snow bound?
Maybe some family game time...
Or watch the football game...
Or maybe, like Pasha, just cuddle up with a warm friend.
Wouldn't you like to have a little black cuddle bug or two to keep you warm and entertained this winter? Call Joan at 651-705-6264 and ask about the Chorneys, who are currently in foster care.

Fire Cracker - Home for the Holidays
Fire Cracker found her home about a month ago and is doing wonderfully in her home according to the following update her family sent to share.
Hi everyone at Feline Rescue!
I took Fire Cracker home about a month ago, and I just wanted to drop a note to say how well she is doing and how happy she has made us!
She is exactly what we were looking for. She is so friendly, purrs all the time, and keeps us great company. I attached some pictures of just a few of the adorable things she is always doing: napping on the couch (or on our laps!) when we watch t.v., sitting on my desk while I work (chasing the mouse and trying to help me type), waiting for us to get home from work, and being a cuddly snuggly buddy at bedtime. She loves treats, playing and meeting new people. I am never without a companion, because she will follow me anywhere!
She has become a fast friend, and we couldn't be happier. Thanks to everyone at Feline Rescue for helping us find the perfect cat for us!
Laura
P.S. Her short front leg has not been a problem at all. She doesn't mind having her nails clipped and can get around just fine!

Fifi in the Kitchen
No, we're not cooking cats. It's been bitterly cold here in Minnesota recently and according to Fifi's foster mom she is just enjoying the warmth of the oven.
Fifi really likes to be involved when I am doing any cooking or baking. She particularly likes to sprawl on the warm oven when I am baking something. I can't guarantee that things I make are free of cat hair...
If you are interested in meeting Fifi aka Ophelia, please contact Joan at 651-705-6264.

Harley and Sebatian - Loving Their Home
If you made it to our holiday boutique you may have seen some of the cute (and popular) bird toys and potholders donated by Harley's and Sebastian's mom and grandma. Their mom also sent some more photos and update for the boys. These handsome boys look quite relaxed and happy in their home. Most likely a contributing factor is that they have all the handmade catnip bird toys they could ever want :)
Harley (fka Jerod) and Sebastian (fka Ryan) are having some quiet time right now, which is rare. They are such a joy to have in my home. I am so glad I adopted them, and that they both seem to have adopted me.
Harley is a total clown, always running, playing, and flopping around - he loves to watch the rabbits, squirrels and birds that are in the neighborhood as well. Sebastian is the ambassador of the house, he greets people at the door and will be anyone's friend if he can get a
warm lap out of the deal.
They both like to lounge around belly-up while they nap. I've never met a cat who is as trusting as these two when it comes to showing off their bellies. They truly are the best housemates I could ask for, and I hope the three of us will have many many years together!
I've attached some photos for you, too. A couple in their favorite napping spot - the blanket chest by the bay window, two more in the Ikea chair I *clearly* bought for them, and Harley up on the wall between my kitchen and living room.
Thanks so much for the work you and the other volunteers do.
